Totally Non-Fannish Post Goes Here
Monday, 8 October 2007 23:31Yes, a non-fannish post. Everyone may now be shocked. Well, not really, because I do have a few non-fandom related posts.
This just in: Cherry Coke is my crack. *insert bad puns concerning cocaine here*
Not Cherry Pepsi, that stuff is beyond nasty (although infinitely preferable to regular Pepsi). Cherry Coca-Cola. I love it. It is the nectar of the gods. When Homer tells of ambrosia, he is unknowingly referencing Cherry Coke. That is how delicious this soda is.
Which begs the question...
WHY THE HELL IS IT SO HARD TO FIND?!
I want to write Coca-Cola and ask them this. It's bad enough that my precious Lime Coke no longer exists in anything but diet. Worse still is the fact that they will not make a regular soda with added nutrients. The most heinous crime of all is that I have seen vending machines with DIET Cherry Coke, and Cherry Coke ZERO, but if I want plain, ordinary Cherry Coke, I have to either purchase a 2-litre, a 12 pack of cans, or hunt down the ONE vending machine that has it.
I'm sorry, but I want to sue the soda manufacturers for discrimination. They release all these delicious sounding variants on basic cola, or sodas with vitamins added... but only in diet. So clearly, they don't care about the percentage of the population that is allergic to artificial sweeteners. You may say, "But wait! They use Splenda! It's made from sugar, so it's natural!"
If you say that, I will say unto you, "Yes, it is made from sugar. They add chlorine to it. What natural sugar has chlorine in it? None. It's fake. How do I know? I get sicker from drinking or eating Splenda than I do when I drink aspartame or saccharin."
And there are other people who get ill after ingesting artificial sweeteners. Why? Possibly because they aren't made with any combination of elements that would be found in an edible substance in nature. I don't know. But there you have it. So why, oh WHY can't they do all this nifty stuff to normal soda?
I'm sure the answer to why no vitamins is because then people would think soda was a healthy alternative. I'll give you a hint, don't add them to diet sodas, because really, same problem there. Soda is NOT healthy. Does that make me not drink it? Well, no, and maybe I shouldn't, but I eat healthily and I prefer juice and tea to soda any day, but when I want a soda, I want a soda. Give me the high fructose corn syrup (although soda made with real sugar is the tastiest variety)! Hand over the empty calories!
And damnit, if I want a Cherry Coca-Cola, give me my Cherry Coca-Cola! None of this diet crap. Don't even think of passing off Wild Cherry Pepsi, because I can taste the difference, and it is a big difference indeed. Just hand over a plain, ordinary Cherry Coke, and I will love you forever.
By the way, if any of you know where I can get my hands on Cherry Coke made with real sugar... that would be awesome. Beyond awesome. I would marry you and have your babies.
